Opinion: If you know me you would know I am a pretty big Boys Over Flowers fan. I haven’t watched the anime or drama but I spent a lot of money on collecting all the books and I make it a point to re read the series once a year. So this review is probably biased.
The art is great, it’s obviously improved since she started in the 80s. While the art may not be my favourite it is definitely unique and polished and unique really isn’t a bad thing in a sea of manga.
The story is very reminiscent of the original series to the point that it is kind of predictable. Kamio has a way with unrequited love that she just does so well so it’s entirely forgivable, it works. The main character is more confident this time around and the main guy is a lot less of a hot head.
Main reason to read this as a fan is to check out the cameos of the characters from Boys Over Flowers. While Tsukushi and Tsukasa haven’t shown up YET I can’t wait to see my fav characters living their best lives.
You do not need to read the original series to get this series and it does well as a stand alone. I do recommend this series but maybe I’m too biased.
